General Rules of Priority

Applicable when members are waiting to play

Doubles takes priority over singles, except on Mondays when up to two courts may be used for singles play.

After one tie-break set, or half an hour of hitting or coaching, players must give way to any members who are known to be waiting for courts.

Junior members must give way to senior members after 6pm if there are senior members known to be waiting to play.

Club Regulations

The following regulations apply:
  1. Management
A committee of 7 officers and up to 9 members manage the tennis club in accordance with a constitution. All complaints, comments and suggestions should be made to the committee.
  2. Membership Identity
All members will be issued with a membership shoe tag. This must be worn or clearly visible on racket bag / cover at all times when using the club courts. New tags are issued each year.
  3. Dress
Members and their guests should wear recognised tennis attire. Only trainers with non-marking soles are to be worn on court.
  4. Behaviour
A high standard of behaviour is expected at all times. Any member whose behaviour is deemed by the committee to be unacceptable is liable to expulsion.
  5. Juniors
On Junior Club Nights play will be supervised by a club coach. Juniors are also encouraged to play at other times but must give way after 6pm if senior members are waiting to play. The committee will nominate any juniors who, by virtue of maturity and standard of play, will be allowed the playing rights of senior members.
  6. Guests
Members may introduce guests who must be signed into the visitor’s book, maintained at the centre reception desk. The fee for a guest is £3 for adults and £1 for juniors, per day. Any one visitor may play as a guest for a maximum of three occasions in the year.
  7. Coaching
Members wishing to use the club courts for conducting private coaching must apply to the committee in writing and be granted permission. Permission will only be granted for the current year and renewal of this license must be sought prior to the start of subsequent years. Only WLTC members may be coached on club courts.
  8. Floodlights
Floodlights will be free of charge on Club Nights and the committee will issue cards to the organiser / coach. At all other times payment for floodlight cards is £2 per court per hour. You may purchase cards from the tennis centre reception.
  9. Prospective New Members
Members are encouraged to introduce new prospective members. Prospective members may play without payment of a guest fee on Club Nights on up to three occasions prior to making a commitment to join the club.

Please ensure you comply with club rules and prevent illegal use of club courts. If you believe non-club members are using Club courts, please check at the Tennis Centre reception (they may have walked on to the wrong court by mistake). There is also a list of WLTC members names on the Club Notice Board.
